Self Catering @ Soar Mill Cove

Jenny and Keith launched West Soar to the luxury self catering market at the start of this year and it has proved hugely successful, consistently booked out for families of up to 10 guests.
Jenny and Keith have spent the last 2 years consulting with environmentalists to create a sustainable development of the most eco friendly coastal suites.
These are now being launched for letting for the 2012 season, they sit below and in front of the hotel as green roofed 2/3 bedroom luxury self catering apartments with uninterrupted views of the cove. Their design is a landmark project that allows current sea view rooms to retain their uninterrupted sea views and sets them dug into the valley floor with the most unique design.
Both Ocean View One and Ocean View Two can sleep 6 guests comfortably and together as they both are designed to be linked can accommodate a party of 12!
Ocean Views provide independent holidays yet with all the benefits of a 4 star hotel on hand anf free use of Soar Mill Cove Hotel's extensive leisure facilities.

Good Value verses Cheap

In this period of Credit Crunch offering good value has never been more important. But good value means just that, value in everything you do, what it does not mean is cut portions and lower standards for the sake of been cheap.
Value is offering a fair product for a fair price.

We have invested in the fabric of the building, constantly updating to ensure quality is at the key. If you buy quality and stick with good taste you will always do well and there is always a market for quality, it may just be that people are not prepared to pay more than is fair.

I believe in looking at what you do best and concentrating on that, so we reinvest in all that is important but make sure no money is wasted elsewhere. Hard times mean time to train your staff and make sure everything is well maintained. It’s not time to guild the Lilly or to think that good is good enough. Our team never aim to be “best” instead we all try to be “better”. I wouldn’t want to think of us ever as best, as that would lead to complacency, with aiming to always be better we will never rest on our laurels.

At Soar Mill Cove Hotel we have just won The South Devon Awards for Excellence under “Best Customer Service”. It’s a lovely acknowledgement of our teams hard work and its great for moral, but lets face it, this is just a snapshot of what our guys do and now it spurs us on to be better and win national recognition for all the team.

Good value means letting you pay for what you want, not imposing what we think you should have, so if you want dinner on Monday but not on Tuesday then that’s fine, after all you’re the boss, not me!

Family Friendly Hotels

Soar Mill is probably the last of the real seaside family hotels where the traditions of the past blend warmly with today’s exacting city standards of service, food and outstanding leisure facilities. Good Taste and Tasty Food are key.

What makes the secret of a goof family friendly hotel?
Caring for the whole family is our philosophy.
Having enough room and enough time to ensure everyone is well looked after, from Grandchild to Grandparent, rather than just concentrating on the children alone.
While the little ones are enjoying kite flying with their new friends, grandparents enjoy a relaxing drink on the deck while they keep an eye on things, Mum has a massage and Dad enjoys some quite time with an undisturbed swim in the cove.

Keith admits “Perhaps it’s our fault that our family owned hotel is The Best Kept Secret in Devon, the rest of the world seems to know quite a lot about Soar Mill Cove, but I suspect we do not always do all that we can to share what we do more locally”
Soar Mill Cove has now been run by Keith Makepeace’s family for well over 25 years, but they have not rested on their laurels in that time.

We are set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the sort of Beach that George, Timmy and the rest of The Famous Five would explore. Rock pools to fish in and the sort of golden sand that defies you not to roll up your trouser legs grab a spade and build a huge sand castle!

If you have not visited Soar Mill Cove for a while then it’s probably time that you did!
